Spanish
Charter Licenses
If you intend to charter in Spanish waters which includes
picking up or dropping off guests in Spanish territory
then the law requires you to be in possession of a
complete Spanish charter license.
In
order to acquire a charter license you must go through
three stages:
· It is necessary to obtain a permit
from the Department of Transport of the province you
are operating in. In order to gain this permit you
will need to be registered for tax on your charter
earnings in Spain; show your full EU registration
document; show your insurance and various other documentation
plus paying an annual stamp duty to the government.
This stage of the charter license must be renewed
annually.
· It is necessary to obtain the seaworthiness
certificate for charter of the EU country in which
the yacht is registered.
· Both of the above documents must then
be presented to Capitania Maritima and the final charter
license obtained. This usually runs until the seaworthiness
certificate is due for renewal.
